About

Yu-Ann Chen is a Taiwanese collaborative pianist and ballet accompanist based in Boston, Massachusetts. Since fall 2023, she has been involved with Belmont Public Schools and The Hanover Theatre and Conservatory for the Performing Arts. In Fall 2024, she will join the Berklee Dance Division as a ballet accompanist and Wayland Public Schools as a collaborative accompanist.

Yu-Ann holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, where she studied with Alexander Braginsky and worked as a teaching assistant. She also earned a Master of Music degree and a Graduate Performance Diploma from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University under Benjamin Pasternack and won the Miami Music Festival Concerto Competition in 2017.

Her experience includes working with ballet classes at the Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists and Saint Paul Ballet School. Yu-Ann’s approach to accompaniment is attentive to the needs of each class, enhancing the dance experience through tailored music.

With over ten years of teaching experience in various settings, Yu-Ann started her private studio in 2023. Her teaching aims to foster a lasting love for music and provide a positive learning experience in piano techniques.
